"I am not able to work in my garden every day, but I am constantly thinking about it," says interior designer Bunny Williams of her lavish gardens in Falls Village, Connecticut. Despite spending more than 30 years tending to the gardens at her country estate, the decorator tells One Kings Lane her green thumb is completely self-taught, learned over the years through books and tours of public and private gardens around the world.
Self-taught or not, Bunny's gardens draw from the same sense of classicism, scale and whimsy as her renowned interiors. The lush, bountiful grounds feature several distinct spaces designed with a balance of formality and ease. Woven wicker furniture and European antiques are seamlessly sprinkled throughout the gardens, which boast matching boxwood terraces, rustic planters, a koi pond, a formal parterre and the crown jewel of the property: a colonnaded pool house that resembles a Greek temple.
Take a tour of Bunny's enviable garden below and head to One King's Lane for the designer's tips and secrets for achieving a well-kept garden (after all- it may help you live longer).
