Geraniums have a blood-red color dubbed a perennial plant, distinguished by a dense, long rhizome with characteristic nodules and numerous rich red flowers, due to which this variety got its name.

The culture is characterized by a long growing season and in one season only one generation of leaves appears on itdivided into 5-7 parts.Some gardeners say that the leaves survive the winter without problems, while others say that the plant overwinters without them. The hairy stalks of this geranium species reach a height of 20-50 cm and branch out at the end. Toward the fall, the base of the stems, along with the basal row of leaf plates, acquires a reddish tint.

Flowers of the plant have 5 nectaries, sepals and bright red petals, the latter two times longer than the sepals. Bracts are almost oval in shape and differ in brownish color.

The plant forms a five-lobed and pyatignezdnuyu ovary, with the emerging "national" fruit, consisting of different single-seeded parts. Flowering plants can be observed from June-July, although fruiting is also characteristic of the midsummer. Chemical composition

The rich chemical composition of blood-red geranium caused its healing properties in the fight against many ailments. So in any part of it can be found. tannins (play an important role in the normal functioning of the human body), and in the stems and leaflets also glucose, sucrose, fructose and ascorbic acid are present.

It also contains vitamin K, carotene and alkaloids. With more careful chemical analysis of the plant, it is easy to notice the presence of starch, organic salts, anthocyanins, and even essential oils, which are the main building material for flowers and leaves of geranium. In addition to the mentioned starch, the root system also contains bioflavonoids.

Medicinal properties

Virtually any plant can be used in the treatment of a disease, but the described geranium perfectly copes with a variety of problems. Of course in traditional medicine, its use will be more recommendatory in naturebut folk healers use it much more actively.

The rhizome of the plant is well suited for eliminating internal bleeding, washing abrasions and larger wounds, as well as gargling with tonsillitis. In Bulgaria, folk healers recommend taking infusions from the root system of geraniums to eliminate diarrhea and nasal bleeding (tampons moistened in an infusion of rhizomes are placed in the nasal sinuses for some time).

In addition, prepared infusion can flush fistula, treat dermatosis, and even inflammation of the subcutaneous fat or pronounced phlegmon.

For medicinal purposes, other indoor plants are also used: alokaziya, kalanchoe pinnate, hibiscus, yucca, aloe, agave, bollard, golden mustache, plectranthus, cacti, and saxifrage.

Properly prepared infusion from different parts of the plant contributes to the expansion of coronary vessels, the normalization of metabolic functions of the body and the gastrointestinal tract, the elimination of salt deposits in the joints. If there is evidence of the benefits of blood-red geraniums, then it is logical that there should be appropriate recipes for its preparation. Now we will tell about some of them.

In cardiovascular diseases

To combat diseases of the heart and vascular system prepare the next infusion from blood-red geraniums: 1 tbsp. l crushed root plants take one cup of boiling water and after mixing leave the mixture to infuse for 8 hours.

After this time, you only need to filter the composition and squeeze the residue well. If the volume of liquid after the performed manipulations has decreased, it can be brought to its original value with boiled water. In the end, divide all the available amount of healing drink into three equal parts - this is your dose per day (morning, lunch and dinner).

To improve the state of the cardiovascular system also apply carrots,tomatoes, lovage, irgu, nettle, hawthorn, calendula, radish, safflower, basil, lilies of the valley, asparagus, pumpkin, hops, lofant.

The duration of the infusion is 1 month, after which you need to take a break (several weeks are enough) and repeat all the manipulations again.

With angina pectoris

If you are constantly tormented by pain in the chest and it seems that someone squeezes it with a vice, making it difficult to breathe, then the following recipe from geranium will help to eliminate these manifestations of angina pectoris.

For 5 large spoons of dried grass, you must take 300 ml of water (boiling water) and, after mixing, leave to infuse for 2-3 hours. The finished composition must be filtered and you can begin to use one or two tablespoons 4 times a day. The duration of this infusion should not exceed two weeks.

With depression, nervous and mental disorders

Who is constantly suffering from depression or other mental disorders are often manifested, another recipe from blood-red geranium will do. For 1 cup of boiling water, there is 1 teaspoon of dried leaves of the plant, and after infusion (15 minutes is enough), you can divide the amount of medicine obtained into equal parts and drink it during the day.

This recipe can be used at least every day, again and again brewing a new tool. However, the course of treatment should not exceed 1 month and it is better to consult with your doctor in advance about the appropriateness of using the plant.

With adrenal gland disease

The resulting amount of infusion should be divided into equal parts and taken throughout the day.

With cancer

At the initial stages of the development of cancer, the following recipe will help to alleviate the patient's condition: 1 spoonful of powder from the roots of the described plant should be poured 200 ml of boiling water and left to languish in a water bath for half an hour. When the tool cools down, it is filtered and started to be taken daily, 1 tablespoon three times a day.

Important! At the last stages of the development of oncology, infusions and decoctions from geranium are unlikely to help, so you should not rely on them, ignoring the traditional methods of therapy.

For prostate cancer

Oncological diseases are always very serious and, of course, it is hardly possible to help the cause with folk remedies alone, but as an auxiliary component of treatment they are quite appropriate.

Even with prostate cancer condition can be alleviated by the following infusion: 10 ml of powder from geranium root should be 200 ml of boiling water. After mixing, the vessel with the finished composition must be placed in a water bath and left there for half an hour.

After the specified time, the finished product is cooled and filtered, and then it is completely ready for use.Reception of this medicinal composition is carried out three times a day, one tablespoon for half an hour before meals.

With cancer of the uterus

When treating uterine cancer, some women take an infusion from a whole collection of herbs, one of the components of which is our described plant. Together with one tablespoon of geranium, you need to prepare the same amount of crushed rhizome of medicinal comfrey, common wormwood, Bergenia and saxifrage.

After complete grinding and thorough mixing of all these components, it remains to pour in 1.5 tablespoons of the mixture of 0.5 liters of boiling water and leave for 6 hours. As soon as the infusion is ready, it is filtered and used for wetting cotton swabs that are inserted into the vagina at night.

As an alternative (suddenly there is no one of the above components in the house) you can use another “recipe”.

In this case, you will need 4 large (table) spoons of crushed geranium roots of blood-red, 5 of the same spoonfuls of the roots of the pharmacy agrimony, 2 spoons of medicinal comfrey, red root sparrow and medicinal valerian roots, as well as 3 spoons of the roots of the Siberian hogweed and 0.5 l have vodka.

To two tablespoons of a well-mixed collection, add the specified amount of alcohol and leave to infuse for 14 days in a dark and warm place. When the tincture is ready, it should be taken one small spoon (tea) 3-4 times a day.

Important! The possibility of using traditional medicine recipes for oncological diseases depends largely on the characteristics of the course and stage of development of the disease, therefore, instead of the expected relief, there is a possibility that the situation will worsen.

Contraindications

Despite the wide range of medicinal properties of blood-red geranium, it has some contraindications to use. First of all, from its use should be abandoned to people suffering from chronic gastrointestinal diseases and pregnant women.

It is also extremely undesirable to use the plant and those who have one or another illness led to thickening of the blood, since geranium itself also has a similar property. Even if such a disease is not observed, concomitant medications should be selected with special care in order not to accidentally increase the binding properties of the plant.
