In Paris, France, the Place Vendôme is studded with landmarks of luxury: The Ritz Paris, the Chanel Fine Jewelry Boutique, and Louis Vuitton Paris Vendôme all call the square home.
And now, visitors to the area in Paris's 1st arrondissement will have a new way to experience that sought-after opulence, even if they can't afford to buy a diamond necklace or a night at an expensive hotel.
Historic jewelry house Maison Chaumet will be opening a pop-up museum on the ground floor of their Place Vendôme flagship store in order to celebrate the company's history and bring more eyes to their stunning creations, according to Blouin Art Info.
Chaumet started out as a royal jeweler in the 19th-Century, and created intricate, nature-inspired pieces for Europe's elite, even creating a tiara decorated with diamond-studded ears of wheat for Napoleon's wife, Empress Marie-Louise.
"From the start, nature has always been present in the creations of the maison and very early on you can find designs of hawthorn motifs, wheat sheaves, grass stalks, acanthus leaves," Beatrice de Plinval, curator of the Chaumet museum and archives explained to Blouin Art Info.
As a tribute to the naturalism present in the house's historic pieces, the pop-up museum's first exhibit is titled Promenade Bucolique, or Bucolic Stroll. It will feature 15 historic pieces and a few modern jewels, along with original mockups and vintage photographs.
The exhibit opens on September 12, and Maison Chaumet hopes to expand the pop-up in the future to include historic pieces currently housed in museums like the Louvre and the Smithsonian, as well as those owned by royal families around Europe.
