JFK's "Winter White House" Has A New Owner

During his tenure as president, John Fitzgerald Kennedy regularly took trips to Palm Beach, Florida, along with his wife Jackie Kennedy and their two kids. The First Family spent their time at a sprawling estate, known affectionately as the "Winter White House."

Now, the 15,347-square-foot mansion has a new owner, according to People. Jane Goldman, whose father is late New York real estate investor Sol Goldman, reportedly dropped $31 million for the oceanfront property, which JFK's father, Joseph P. Kennedy, purchased in 1933.

The sprawling mansion - just one of the Kennedys' real estate holdings and noted vacation spots - remained in the Kennedy family's possession until 1995, when the home and its furnishings were sold to merchant banker John K. Castle for $4.9 million. The Castle family retained ownership of the property until the recent sale to Goldman.

A source assures People that while the new owners do intend to renovate the 11-bedroom, 16-bathroom mansion, preserving its historic past is of the utmost importance.
