Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China's First EmperorThrough October 12, 2008

Considered one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the twentieth century, the tomb of China's first emperor, Shi Huangdi, was filled with thousands of terra cotta warriors intended to protect him throughout eternity. This landmark exhibition of nearly 100 objects provides a deeper exploration of the site and is the largest loan of terra cotta figures ever to travel to the United States.

In the Forest of Fontainebleau: Painters and Photographers From Corot to Monet

Located just 35 miles from Paris, virtually unspoiled and uninhabited yet easily accessible, Fontainebleau was the ideal site for the birth of plein air painting in France. This exhibition transports viewers to the Fontainebleau of the 1820s through the 1870s as it traces three generations of painters who sought the natural landscape as their studio. Barbizon painters such as Henri Rousseau and Gustave Courbet as well as young Impressionist painters such as Claude Monet and Alfred Sisley are represented.
