Sotheby's And eBay Make An Auction Dream Team

In one of the most brilliant mashups of recent history, eBay and Sotheby's have joined forces. They've been at it since early April, but, starting Friday, a new sale begins, and it's one for the ages.

The "Fine Books and Manuscripts" sale is a modest name for the variety of Americana that will be hitting the virtual auction block. There are the Sotheby's classics - timeless literature, modern art, and stunning photography - but also a bevy of unique novelties, including love letters from Charles Darwin, scrawled research from Ernest Hemingway, and original drawings from John James Audubon.

It may be no surprise, but these items won't come cheap (though, they're surely worth it). Starting bids range from an estimated $10,000 up past the $1 million mark. Take a look at some of our favorites below.
