Ukrainian farmers planted winter crops for the 2017 harvest in an area of 7.173 million hectares. As of February 9, sprouts of winter crops appeared on 6.834 million hectares, or 95.3% of the acreage, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. According to the report, as of the reporting date, 81.7% of the sprouted zones were in good and satisfactory condition (5,581 million hectares), and 18.3% in poor and thinned (1,253 million hectares).
In addition, the sprouts of winter rape appeared on the territory, the size of 859.8 thousand hectares (95.6%) of the total cultivated areas, the size of 899.2 thousand hectares, including 80.3% of the areas (690.3 thousand hectares) good and satisfactory condition, and 19.5% (168.1 thousand hectares) - in the weak and thinned. At the same time, cabbage sprouts did not appear at all in an area of 1.4 thousand hectares (0.2%).
