According to the data of the Public Relations Department of the Association of Milk Producers, the purchase price of milk in Ukraine in January of this year compared to January 2016 increased by almost 50%. It was reported that the average cost for milk of extra class for the year increased by 49% - up to 9.43 UAH / per liter (including VAT). Compared to December 2016, this product has risen in price by 3.9%. A liter of premium milk has increased in value by an average of 46.6% compared with January 2016, and by 4.82% - from December 2016, to UAH 8.81. Over the last month, first-rate milk rose in price most of all - by 7%, to UAH 8.82 / liter. The one-year increase was 48.2%. According to the association, this led to the fact that the retail price of milk in January compared with December increased on average by 12% - up to 16.53 UAH / liter. The cost of kefir increased by 10% - up to 25.09 UAH / liter. The cost of yogurt in January every day hesitated and reached its own peak on January 27 - 49 UAH / liter, but then went down to 46.62 UAH. Also, the association reported that butter on the domestic market for the month fell by an average of 18 kopecks. According to the data, on February 3 a kilogram of oil with a fat content of 82.5% on the market cost 167.6 hryvnias.
Experts also claim that in the near future the purchase price of milk in Ukraine will start to decline somewhat. "The first signals of lowering tariffs for raw materials for the population have already started. Approaching the spring creates the likelihood that buyers will lower the price bar for those regions where the cost has exceeded 6 UAH per liter," the association said. In connection with this, processors began to revise their own prices since the middle of the month. But, as predicted by the association, in 2017 there will not be enough milk in Ukraine, and as a result, the cost of the product will probably not be significantly and quickly reduced.
