This week, Ukrainian exporters intend to start supplying Ukrainian cucumbers to the EU. Many of the Ukrainian firms that have already engaged in the supply of vegetables to the EU market, have announced their readiness for export. This is mostly about the Polish market. As exporters of "Info-Shuvar" said, not paying attention to the relatively high cost, European customers are already interested in Ukrainian cucumbers, and as a result, Ukrainian suppliers are actively negotiating with greenhouse companies to prepare the product, according to the requirements of European customers.
According to Info-Shuvar, as of January 3, 2017, Ukrainian plants offer greenhouse cucumbers in small batches of the cost of 43-45 UAH / kg (1.48-1.55 euro / kg), actually what corresponds to the level of tariffs in early February 2016. In the market "Bronisze" in Warsaw, the cost of cucumbers is about 2.3-2.55 euro / kg. Despite this, the past few days have seen a downward trend in the value of the product due to unsatisfactory sales rates. Turkey and Spain are considered to be the main competitive rivals in the Polish market. As it was already reported that due to the embargo on the part of the Russian Federation, Turkish suppliers were obliged to reorient themselves to the markets of other areas, primarily Eastern Europe.
In general, Ukrainian suppliers believe that Ukrainian cucumbers have every chance to make a serious competitiveness of products from Turkey due to the correspondence of the cost and quality of the product. Recall that in 2016, Ukraine exported a record number of cucumbers to the EU. Although in 2015 deliveries amounted to more than 1000 tons, in 2016 the volume of deliveries increased to 2,300 tons.
