Ukrainians consumed about 827 thousand tons of pork and meat products for 2016, and this is 6.7% more than in the year before last. This is reported by the Analytical Department of the Association "Swine Ukraine" with reference to the data of the Economic Discussion Club. The use of pork at the end of last year ahead of its predictable level. Earlier, at the beginning of 2016, experts were waiting for it to drop by half a kilogram or by 2.76%, but closer to the end of the year, forecasts changed. On average, in Ukraine, the increase in the use of pork was 7%. As a result, in 2016, the customer menu has increased 1.3 kg of pork. At that time, as pork "won the market," poultry and beef dined less than in 2015 (by 6% and 2%, respectively), as a result, the combined amount of meat consumption per person did not change.
It is worth noting that, on average, over the previous year, Ukrainians better assessed their current financial situation. According to the monitoring agency GfK, the corresponding index was 40% higher than in 2015. Towards the end of the year, the “gap” narrowed somewhat, but last month, consumers were more optimistic about their own financial situation than in December 2015. Note that according to analysts of the Economic Discussion Club, meat consumption in Ukraine may increase by 2%. This may contribute to the increase in consumption of poultry meat.
