Features of the content of bees and independent production of the Varre hive

At the present stage of development of agriculture, the issue of honey extraction remains topical, therefore, it is expedient to optimize this process by introducing a frameless housing into the technology of creating a hive.

An easy-to-build and easy-to-use bee house will provide insects with comfortable conditions for collecting honey.

What is it?

Emil Varre was a beekeeper who devoted his life to studying the structure of housing for bees. He tested various hive systems until he invented the frameless content of bees.

Did you know? The bee has 5 eyes and does not distinguish the red color.
The bee house was created to ensure a comfortable stay of bees in it. In addition, it is designed in such a way as to provide insects with conditions closest to natural ones. It also has a convenient structure for the beekeeper, thanks to which you can get the maximum amount of honey with minimum labor and financial costs. This design is optimal for keeping frameless beekeeping.

Other types of hives can be made with their own hands: multicase, alpine, nucleus, Dadan hive.

Design features

The design of the hive, invented by Abbot Warre, is simple to perform and economical. Using special schemes and drawings, it is possible to accurately determine the dimensions of the product and arrange the bee house in the most optimal way. A wooden hive with fixed honeycombs consists of a bottom, several frameless cases, a podshreshnik and a roof.

The advantage is the ability of the beekeeper to add the necessary or remove the unnecessary buildings. It should be noted that the frameless content of a swarm of bees allows you to collect honey to a person of any age, gender and build.

Did you know? A bee can reach speeds of up to 65 km per hour.
Also, the feature of the frameless device improves the vital activity of bees, giving them more free space, and does not cause negative emotions in insects during harvest. One body of the hive has the following dimensions: 300 mm length, 300 mm width and 210 mm height. The upper bars with a width of 24 mm are placed at a distance of 12 mm from each other. They must be covered with rigid substrates. Under the bars should be placed strips of wax, and in the roof - to make holes in order to ventilate the hive. The cover should be equipped with a pillow with sawdust or moss moss covered with a fabric, separating it from the ventilated attic with a board that will prevent rodents from entering the hive. In the summertime, the Varre hive increases its space by adding several hulls.

The internal structure of the hive Varre

Consider the hive device from top to bottom. The pointed roof is worn without fasteners and has several openings, which allows for improved ventilation. It is assembled from board inches. Under the roof is a warming pad consisting of moss or sawdust. Below it is covered with a cloth.

Important! The contents of the thermal cushion must be dried beforehand.
Although in the hive and created the habitat of bees, as close as possible to the natural, it may be necessary to treat and feed insects. To do this, fold the corner of the fabric in an empty frame and place the feeder on top. Consider the arrangement of the first building.Above there is a special canvas on which bees put propolis. Under it are placed rectangular strips, on the one hand of which it is necessary to cut a groove in the middle and fill it with wax. The straps are attached to the hive with nails. In the future, the bees will use this design to build a honeycomb, overlapping the entire inner space of the hive.

Exactly the same frame (several frames) is located below. It is necessary to fasten them outside with each other. Under the main segments is the bottom. This is an incomplete frame that has a recess on one side to prevent water from flowing into the hive. Also bee house must be equipped with powerful legs.

How to do it yourself

In order to make a hive yourself, in addition to wooden planks, you must have special tools: a hacksaw, a hammer, nails, a cloth, a measuring ruler, and so on. It is also necessary to prepare a drawing in advance.

Beehive - a storehouse of nutrients. Wax, propolis, pollen, royal jelly, zabrus, perga, bee venom - all these bee products benefit us and are used both in medicine and in cosmetology.

The method of construction is quite simple, the main thing is to strictly follow the measurements. It should be noted that due to the peculiarities of the vertical structure, too high a hive may fall. Therefore, you should not build more than three buildings. Consider the algorithm for constructing the Varre hive from the bottom up.

Bottom

The bottom must be done narrower than the body of the hive itself. Its thickness should be 15-20 mm. The bottom must be made of well-fitted boards, and feet should be attached to its base in order to position the hive on the grass.

Housing

The case is a box in which there are 8 levels located at a distance of 12 mm from each other. In the manufacture of this design is necessary to monitor the connection of the boards at the joints. Rectangular bars, having a length, width and height of 300 mm, 20 mm and 20 mm, respectively, should be smeared with glue and nailed.

Important! It is necessary to mow the upper edge of the handles, so that in rainy weather the water flows freely.
In order to make handles, it is recommended to use steel bars for manufacturing, having a diameter of 12 mm and spikes at the ends. They are needed to attach the product to the bottom of the hive. Thus, the beekeeper will be able to move the bee house to the right place.

Liner

Unlike the case, the size of the liner must be reduced by 5 mm. This will reduce the complexity due to the rapid removal of the roof. You can increase the gap to 10 mm. Filling the compartment under the roof with straw, wood shavings or moss, you should attach the fabric to the bottom so that the contents of the box do not crumble, contaminating the entire area of the hive.

Cap

Above the roof is a roof with vents. Its thickness should be 20 mm, and the height of the boards - 120 mm.

Important! The thinner the material, the lighter the roof.

Content of bees without frames

At the initial stage of breeding bees, it will be advisable to make a separate swarm. However, this is not always possible, since this offer may not be on the market. In this case, consider another option for acquiring a family, in which you need to buy bees that already live in a hive.

Then place them in your apiary and wait for them to start digging. After that it is necessary to place the bees in the hive of Varre. It should be remembered that the need to catch insects in parts to evenly distribute the total number of them on the body of the hive.

Did you know? The lethal dose for an adult is 500-1,100 bee stings.
This sequence of actions can lead to the appearance of bites on the skin of a person caring for hives, so this procedure is recommended for experienced beekeepers.

In general, in the process of organizing beekeeping, experience and attitudes toward insects themselves play an important role. And the construction of housing for them is a fundamental element in which it is important to adhere to the necessary measurements and use a special drawing.
