Autumn terms
In theory, all berry bushes need to be seated during the autumn period, since it is after such a planting that they take root better and develop more quickly after wintering. When it is planted raspberries in the fall, it is impossible to say clearly, since everything varies depending on the variety.
How to choose a quality planting material
It is not recommended to purchase seedlings of large thickness, it will be preferable to choose stems of medium thickness or, if you have not found any, even thin ones will do. There is no need to buy huge raspberry bushes with a large number of shoots, it will be enough to buy several copies of small dimensions. The seedling should not be longer than 30-40 centimeters, since it will still have to be cut before planting. It is necessary to acquire seedlings that already have berries on the stems, which will allow to evaluate the organoleptic properties of the fruit and ensure the future ability of the seedlings to bear fruit.
Location selection
The best place for planting raspberries will be a flat area, perhaps with a slight slope, well drained. It is not recommended to plant bushes in swampy and damp places.Due to the fact that the raspberry gives quite a lot of shoots, a good solution would be to plant it along the hedge. Raspberries - a sun-loving plant, so you need to choose for it a well-lit area with minimal shading during the day.
Preparatory work
We will understand how to plant raspberries in the fall. Before the process of planting, it is necessary to carry out preparatory measures concerning both the seedlings themselves and the soil where they will be planted.
Site preparation
Since raspberries are usually laid for up to 10-15 years, the soil must be properly treated. The site for planting ahead of time (1-2 months) must be fully plowed, making for each square meter a mixture of such fertilizers: humus or rotten manure - 10-12 kg, potassium sulfate - 30-40 g, superphosphate - 50-60 g
Seedlings preparation
Saplings before planting should be stripped of all leaves, leaving only the stem, cut to a length of 20-30 cm and dip the lower part into a thick mixture of clay and mullein, preferably with the addition of "Heteroauxin".
Landing methods
There are two ways of planting raspberry bushes: pit and trench. The choice of method depends on where you plan to plant raspberries on your plot. It is important to consider solar lighting. Many gardeners believe that the landing should be made from north to south, which will contribute to better access of sunlight to plants in the morning and closer to noon.
Pit pit
It is believed that this method is better suited for the autumn disembarkation of the remontant raspberry. For it, it is necessary to prepare in advance pits with a diameter of 0.5 m and a depth of up to 0.4 m. The distance between the rows should be at least 1.5 m, and between bushes at least 0.8-1 m. It is recommended to put fertilizers or top fertile soil layer previously loosened at the bottom of each pit. This is followed by a careful fit, followed by compaction, mulching and abundant watering.
Trench
For this method, trenches with a depth of 0.4-0.5 m and a width of 0.5-0.6 m are dug in advance. The gap between each of the furrows must be at least 1.5 meters. It is recommended to place seedlings in a trench at a distance of at least 0.4 m from each other. Fertilizers are introduced into the trench already at the stage of its preparation; for this, the upper fertile soil layer can be used.
Further autumn care
The most important stage after the autumn planting of raspberries is to prepare it for further wintering. Successfully overwinter raspberries can only if the young white roots do not freeze and the soil is not too wet. In order to help the shrub, it is necessary to cover the root system of the plant with a fair amount of dry leaves, after which all the plants should be placed under a plastic film frame. Shelter can be removed at the end of winter or early spring, depending on weather conditions.
Properly planted raspberries will give its owner the first fruits already the next year after planting. The main thing is not to ignore the rules for wintering and plant bushes strictly on time.Good harvest!
