A historic Texas home is on the market, and it comes with a Texas-sized price tag.
Luxury real estate agency Allie Beth Allman & Associates has just listed Dallas businessman Tom Hicks' sprawling Dallas estate for a hefty $100 million. When it was listed in 2012, the asking price was a record-breaking $135 million price tag.
Hicks is the chairman of Hicks Holdings and the owner of some professional sports teams.
"This is the first time that the Hicks estate has been offered publicly through national real estate listing networks and marketed actively," sales agent Allie Beth Allman said in a statement. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a new buyer - only the third owner in 77 years - to acquire this magnificent property."
The over 50,000-square-foot home is situated on 25 acres of land in prestigious neighborhood Preston Hollow and comes with a guest house that's larger than the average American's home: a 6,400-square-foot building suited to spoil guests.
The three-story home, built by Pio and Florence Crespi in 1938 and designed by architect Maurice Fatio, saw an extensive renovation when Hicks took ownership of it. He brought in New York architect Peter Marino, Dallas builder John Sebastian and noted lighting designer Craig Roberts to re-design parts of the home over a 33-month period.
The property includes a 9,194-square-foot recreation area, conservatory, and kitchen outfitted with a $65,000 custom French range. Other amenities include a library featuring 1820s paneling from France, a 500-bottle wine storage room and a movie theater.
Another quality? You'll be able to say you live in the same neighborhood as former President George W. Bush.
