The Spanish Royal Family Publishes A List Of Gifts It Received In 2015

For the first time in Spanish history, the Royal Family has published a list of all the 326 gifts it received in 2015 - and it's a doozy.

Though the majority of their presents consisted of books and ornaments, according to the Associated Press, when you receive almost a present a day for a year, some are bound to stand out - like a rough metal rifle from Queen Rania of Jordan and aprons from Caritas, a Catholic charity.

For comparison, the British Royal Family has published a list of gifts it has received for many years. In 2015, Charles, Prince of Wales, received a "packet of fairy dust" on a trip to Australia and New Zealand, while Queen Elizabeth received a "bag of salt" on a state visit to Germany. In the past, the Queen's notable gifts include several live animals, including jaguars from Brazil, two giant turtles from the Seychelles and an elephant from Cameroon, all of which have been placed in the care of the London Zoo.

Since his coronation in 2014, King Felipe VI has been making an effort to distance himself from corrupt royals of the past, most recently announcing plans to establish public audits of palace accounts and rules against accepting lavish gifts. He's even gone so far as to abdicate his sister of her title after she faced criminal charges for tax evasion. According to the AP, when King Felipe's father, King Juan Carlos, ruled, he received two Ferraris and a luxury yacht.
