If sci-fi movies have taught us anything, it's that everyone uses holograms in the future. And apparently, the future is here.
According to Design Taxi, a tech company called Number One is working on a concept that would make holographic computer screens a reality. The HTD-01 features rear projection technology to create a transparent monitor, that disappears when not in use.
When it is needed, the holographic screen would appear above its stand, equipped with an LED projector. The result is a screen that, although transparent, has high resolution and is designed to provide the ideal viewing angle to users.
Forgoing a monitor and being able to stash away the stand and keyboard when the computer is not in use would give users greater flexibility with where they could work. And of course, feeling like you're in a futuristic film doesn't hurt either.
If these disappearing screens do hit the market, fingers crossed holographic TVs come next. Then, we can finally settle the design debate of how to decorate around a TV screen.
Check out the video below to see a demonstration of how the disappearing computer screen would work in real life, and stay tuned to see if the concept becomes reality.
