The Queen Mary 2 Renovation Was Just Revealed In Brooklyn, New York

We'll be honest: Usually, "Before and After" projects involve some pretty grizzly "before" images. The Queen Mary 2, on the other hand, was already stunning before it underwent its recent $132 million makeover last month.

The renovation, which was revealed when the ship sailed into its U.S. homeport of Brooklyn this week, includes the addition of 30 more Britannia Club staterooms and 15 single staterooms, expanding the already huge ship to a capacity of 2,961 guests, reports Fox Business. (Some of the more lavish suites available - which, naturally, come complete with spiral staircases - cost about $40,000.)

Over 25 days, the ship received 594,000 square feet of brand new carpets, 4,000 new framed photos were brought on board and the ship's hull was polished with more than 3,900 gallons of paint, according to Cunard, the cruise line that owns the the ship.

The ship's previous palm-clad Winter Garden restaurant was also replaced by the new, more modern Carinthia Lounge.

According to Cunard, the liner has been remastered with more contemporary interior designs than before. Still, it maintains a style that reflects the iconic art-deco movement of the 1930s, during which the original Queen Mary was launched.

In furrier news, the ship also added 10 new kennels for pooches. The revamped pet lodging even comes with lamp posts and fire hydrants "to make dogs feel at home," according to Cunard. Celebrity pets in attendance at the ribbon cutting ceremony included Chloe the Mini Frenchie, Wally the Welsh Corgi and Ella Bean the Dog, reports Travel + Leisure.
