Grape yields have tripled

Now, an average of 100 centners of grapes is harvested per hectare of vineyard. Even before the independence of Ukraine, this figure was 3 times less - in the range of 30 c / g. This was stated by Viktor Kostenko, the head of the department for the development of horticulture, viticulture and winemaking of the Department of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Politics, during an interview on one of the television channels. "In Ukraine, the enormous potential for the production of high-quality wines. The land for planting grapes is carefully chosen, now their area fluctuates within 45,000 hectares. At the moment we are harvesting much more crops due to the introduction of new technologies in the vineyards, high-quality planting material laid and careful care behind him. " According to him, in Ukraine there is a geographically rich ground for increasing the area for 300,000 hectares of grapes. This capacity has the potential to be justified, because the demand for high-quality wines in the world is quite large.

"Our key appointment in the wine-growing branch is the development and assistance to small and medium-sized manufacturers. Their products have the opportunity to be unique and have the opportunity to take advantage of the tremendous demand in Western markets. We have everything we need to enter new markets - a suitable climate, there are technologies, and there are people who are well versed in this business, "said Kostenko.

As part of the state support of agrarians in 2017, which amounts to UAH 540 billion, 75 million hryvnias are taken into account to help growers, gardeners and hop growers. “We are actively promoting recruitment in the wine-growing branch. Thus, one of the weighty decisions was the abolition of the annual fee of 500,000 UAH for the right to sell their own wine products. This applies to those manufacturers who produce wine and honey drinks from personal material. On the other hand, it is still quite difficult for small and medium-sized winemakers to go through the process of obtaining a license for a long time. We took the initiative to solve this problem at the legislative level, ”added Kostenk. about.
