In 2016, Ukrainian farmers put agricultural products on the European Union market in the amount of $ 4.2 billion, which is 1.6% more compared to 2015, said the deputy director for research at the scientific center of the National Institute of Agrarian Economics, a member of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences, Nikolai Pugachev. Last year, Ukraine realized the importance of reciprocal trade in agricultural products mainly with Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany and France. The share of foreign trade turnover with the countries was less than 75% in the total volume of agricultural trade with the EU.
According to the report, in 2006, Ukraine exported mainly grain, worth $ 1.3 billion. In particular, the country supplied 6.7 million tons of corn and 1.3 million tons of wheat to the EU market. In addition, stocks of oilseeds (mainly rapeseed, soybeans and sunflower seeds) brought $ 607 million, vegetable oils - $ 1.2 billion, food industry residues and waste - $ 439 million.
At the same time, in 2016, the EU exported agricultural products to Ukraine in the amount of 1.9 billion dollars (14.4% more compared to 2015).In particular, Ukraine imported 27 thousand tons of corn seeds in the amount of 106 million dollars, as well as oilseeds in the amount of 111 million dollars. In addition, Pugachev noted that Ukraine fully filled out quotas for the export of wheat, corn, barley, cereals, oats, sugar, starch, malt and poultry meat in the EU.
