The State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine has prepared a draft joint order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and the Ministry of Natural Resources, providing for a substantial increase in fines for calculating the amount of damages caused as a result of violations of legislation in the field of hunting and hunting.
Fines were increased four times. For example, the State Legislature intends to increase the amount of penalties for illegal prey or the destruction of one moose before 80 thousand UAH (now a fine of 20 thousand UAH.), European deer - up to 60 thousand UAH. (now - 15 thousand UAH.), spotted deer - up to 50 thousand UAH., fallow deer - up to 40 thousand UAH. (now - 10 thousand UAH.), roe deer and mouflon - up to 32 thousand UAH. (now - 8 thousand UAH.). In addition, the amount of fines for illegal acquisition or destruction of birds will also be increased four times.
The current fines for damages were approved back in 2007 after an order from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the State Forestry Committee, therefore, they are currently outdated and need to be revised, since they do not cover the costs of restoring natural resources.
